Whilst I don’t have the biggest makeup stash in the world, I’ve been trying to find ways to be content with what I do own and hold back from adding to the collection. So I’m introducing a new segment called ‘Mix It Up’, sort of like a ‘Shop my Stash’ post, well, exactly like a shop my stash, I just liked how ‘Mix it Up March’ sounded! 😉
Tarte // Lights Camera Splashes
I talked about this product in my ‘Over-hyped Products I didn’t like‘ post in January but it’s pretty expensive for a mascara so I’m desperate to give it another go and not waste all that money. Especially as my Too Faced Better than Sex is running extremely low and my NARS Audacious Tester can’t have much of a life left either.
Benefit // Gimme Brow
Again another product that got pushed to the back of my drawer because I wasn’t as impressed as what the hype led me to believe. It is great for keeping your brows in one place but even though it’s tinted I still have to fill my brows in beforehand and what’s the point in that? But I’m going to try and fall in love with this product none-the-less, that’s my main aim this month.
The Body Shop // All-in-One BB Cream
I loved this product when I first picked it up, back in the day when foundation wasn’t an everyday necessity and the ‘no makeup look’ was something I lived in. It comes in 2 shades; 01 and 02, I have 02 because I generally tend to be on the warmer scale of the spectrum but what’s cool is it adapts to your own skin tone so you can’t really go wrong. It’s a light coverage but I think it’ll be great for those days when I’m in a hurry to get out the door and don’t have time for perfectly blended face base.
Becca // Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight
I’ve never used this, well, I swatched it on my hand when I first got it but that’s it! It came in a pack with the pressed powder version in Opal and that stole my heart and this kind of just got lost. But I’m bringing it back in an attempt to reduce the size of my makeup brush washing list!
Maybelline // Colour Tattoo
I used to love the Colour Tattoo’s, last summer and the summer before the shade On and On Bronze was my all time favourite. I still use some of the other shades occasionally but not as often as I used to. I’ve been feeling down recently because it’s been cold and rainy so I’m going to try emulate summer in my makeup and hope the weather man takes the hint.
Rimmel // Scandaleyes Shadow Crayon
Another summer loved but disregarded this winter product. I used this product every day in 2014 with the Maybelline Colour Tattoo to create a super easy golden brown smokey eye! They make eyeshadow application so easy just a quick swipe on my eyelids, blend with a MAC 217 and you’re good to go. The only thing I dislike is they’re not so easy to sharpen and they wear down fairly quickly due to the softness of the eyeshadow!
NARS // Isolde Duo Palette
Not so much of an unloved or lost product, I only picked this up in New York last November and used it pretty much throughout all of December. Well, up until I received the MAC Warm Neutrals Palette for Christmas and it got a little forgotten about. The colours are a beautiful rich gold and a dark shimmery brown, both of which will go perfectly with my Colour Tattoo and Scandaleyes shades.
There are some products here that I have really loved and I’m exciting to rekindle my love for them this month. As for the products I’m not so sure about, here’s to hoping they surprise me and I can write about them later this month!
What are your tips for mixing up your makeup routine and saving a bit of cash? I’d love to learn some new tricks, I’m running out of idea’s and my will power when walking past the beauty aisle in boots is slowly running low.
