As soon as March roles around Winter is over and Spring is in it’s footfall. For me the winter is dragging, i’m over the coldness and can’t wait for the temperatures to rise so it’s easier to pretend i’m back in Thailand again. I’m not even joking. But with the seasons changing it gives us the perfect opportunity to mix up our make-up bag staples. I’ve picked out a few items which I think are going to be my favourites this Spring…
1. Maybelline Anti-Aging Concealer
This is my favourite concealer all year round, but i’ll be picking up a new one as soon as March hits in a lighter colour. Having a concealer in one shade lighter adds subtle brightness to the underneath of your eyes, which is a necessity for me because of the horrendous dark circles I was born with. Adding this into your make-up routine is a fab way to welcome in the warmer temperatures and show of healthier and dewy looking skin.
2. MAC Cremesheen Lipstick – Speak Louder
I picked this up around Christmas because I was after a pink toned shade that was dark enough it would suit my skin tone but light enough to still be pink! ‘Speak Louder’ has a peachy undertone to it which is perfect for Spring. It’s slightly brighter than the deep berry tones we tend to gravitate towards in the autumnal and winter months and will look so pretty in Spring!
3. The Body Shop, All-in-one BB Cream
When the weather starts to get warmer I like to ditch the heavy duty foundations for a good coverage concealer and tinted moisturiser/cream combination. I discovered this BB cream last summer and loved the fact that it comes out speckled white and then adapts to your skin tone as you blend it into the skin. It has light coverage but paired with a good concealer is lighter and easier to wear in warmer months.
4. Soap and Glory, Sexy Mother Blusher – ‘Pinker Beller’
Like a rosier, peachy lip is more welcome as the months turn slightly warmer and the daffodils bloom, so is the blusher. The chubby stick form is so popular at the moment and I think makes application so easy and great for make-up on the go or beginners looking to experiment with blush. The colour is build able and adds a warm, pinky glow to your cheeks which is so pretty and a welcome change from the pale skinned, muted toned blusher days of winter.
5. Benefit, High Beam
Like I mentioned before of using a lighter shade of concealer under the eyes this time of year, a highlighted cheekbone is perfect to make you’re skin look dewy and healthy. High Beam is subtle which I like in spring because I think it’s much more subdued month compared to summer and winter, or is that just me? It gives a beautiful glow to your complexion like you’re a little fairy whose bathed in the morning dew on the grass, which is two thumbs up for me!
6. Kiehls, Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
Whilst this isn’t strictly make-up it’s party of my daily skin routine before making myself look presentable. My skin occasionally gets dry particularly under the eyes where it’s thiner and more prone to imperfections. As the weather perks up the drier the air will gets and this makes my skin worse! I picked up this cream in duty free on the way to Thailand and it worked a dream in keeping my under eyes moisturised.
Have you got any staples you bring out at Spring? Or anything you plan on picking up ready for when March roles around?
