I’m not really one for doing ‘Favourites’ because I don’t often switch up my beauty products, when I find something I like, I stick to it. However a lot happened this February (I went to a country with a very different climate to the UK and I bought so much newness) so I did mix it up a little…
1. Urban Decay Naked Flushed
Travelling lightly is not my forte, i’m that person who takes a different pair of shoes for each day of the week and a new outfit to match and my make-up bag isn’t exempt from this either. But I was quite good this time and tried to pack small palettes rather than a separate item for every step make-up application. The Naked Flushed palette was perfect, the bronzer was great at transforming me from sunburnt to sun kissed. It goes on fairly sheer which was great because I could also use it as a powder to rid me of awkward shine without making me look like an oompa-loompa. The highlighter is shimmery like fairy dust which was perfect to add a beam to my look but I used it as eye shadow most nights because it’s a beautiful pale pink shade which complimented the tan well!
2. Soap and Glory – Archery Pencil
Possibly my product of the month. Before february my brows weren’t anything to be proud of and don’t get me wrong they’re still not perfect but this pencil transformed them. It comes with a brush on the end which is small and compact, it also has a lid so you don’t have to pull out stray hairs every time you want to use it. It’s a retractable pencil which is great, no sharpener needed. The nib is small so you can get super close and precise which I find 10 times better than the larger S&G Archery pencil.
3. Urban Decay – Perversion Mascara and Subversion Primer
George surprised me with this for Valentines day which actually was quite the shock because I’ve wanted it forever but can’t recall me mentioning it to him at all. The primer isn’t great, I like the fact it’s white and not clear like most Mascara primers because you can see where you have applied to and where needs more coats. However I found the application difficult, slow and a little clumpy. The Mascara on the other hand is worth the hype, it definitely extends my lashes but the magic is in the thickness and definition of them when finished.
4. Maybelline Colour Tattoo Cream Shadow
I love eyeshadow, i’m an eyeshadow addict. But my biggest problem is getting it to stay put all day. I picked up the shade ‘On and on Bronze’ which I have used every day this month both as a single colour and the base to other colours. It has solved my problem for sliding shadow and i’ll be picking a few more shades up next time i’m in Boots.
5. Benefit – Porefessional
I’m not a huge Benefit fan – I know gasp. Don’t get me wrong the packaging is beautiful but all of the products I have tried so far have been hugely disappointing. But I wanted to give it another go because the hype never dies when Benefit is concerned. I picked up a tester set from Boots which included Porefessional, Bad Gal Lash and High Beam. I didn’t like the mascara at all, High beam was ok but I wasn’t impressed by the applicator but Porefessional was a game changer. I have very visible pores and fairly uneven skin under my eyes but the tinted primer works to smooth out the skin and conceal my dark circles in one go. It lasts most of the day too with little reapplication of my concealer so it’ll be a repurchase, my first ever re-purchase from benefit.
I’d be interested if there were any Benefit products you’d swear by because i’ve tried a few but would love to fall in love with them again.
